About Artists for Society
Artists for Society is a Marianopolis College club and non-profit organization whose mission is to help local artists struggling financially, especially in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic. By seeking out and collaborating with culturally-diverse artists from the region of Montreal, Artists for Society provides professionally-led art workshops to students on a variety of unconventional techniques and mediums. Artists for Society hosts an annual exhibition fundraising and art print sale in the hallways of Marianopolis College, featuring the artwork of students alongside that of the supported artists. All funds are donated to the partner artists. Additionally, the Artists for Society carries out weekly social media campaigns to increase the visibility of the supported artists, as well as to share prompts for making art, creative tips and tricks when using art material, and fascinating bits of knowledge on a particular artwork, artist or artistic movement in history (using the ridiculously large collection of museum catalogues possessed by the executives as source of information). Artists for Society has also taken on a larger social vocation, by organizing seasonal fundraising events for charity. The funds amassed are used to buy art boxes for children in need. Members of the Artists for Society club are also engaged in their community by offering free student-led workshops in community centers of Montreal’s less privileged neighbourhoods. Finally, Artists for Society constantly keeps its member’s creativity buzzing with challenges and prizes!
